Bruce A. Siegel

Executive Vice President, General Counsel and a Member of FLI’s Investment Committee

Bruce has been part of the First Long Island Investors team since 1989.  His responsibilities at FLI include helping clients develop plans to minimize estate tax liability and establish wealth management plans for them and their extended families.  He and his team provide guidance to clients on a range of special situations including real estate planning and insurance evaluation and acquisition.  Bruce is also responsible for all compliance functions and leads the sourcing, due diligence, and selection team for most private and alternative investments.  Bruce began his career as an attorney with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  He worked in private practice with a New York City law firm, was assistant general counsel for a public company, and managed the Partnership Review Group for Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith.  Bruce was a Senior Vice President of W.P. Stewart Asset Management (N.A.) from 1998 to 2003.

Bruce is a strong supporter of diabetes research and currently is Secretary and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Board of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation as well as Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee of the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation Northeast Region Board of Directors.  He was a member of DRIF’s National Planned Giving Committee.  He previously served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of DRIF’s former Long Island Region.  Prior to his involvement with DRI, Bruce was active with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International and held various leadership positions including Vice President- Government Relations, Government Relations New York State Leader – Downstate, and as a member of its investment committee.  Bruce graduated from Cornell University in 1970 and received a J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 1974. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1975.  Bruce is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and a member of its Matrimonial Committee.  Bruce and his wife Rachel are avid travelers having visited more than 40 countries around the world, exploring several by bike.
